Nous embarquons a 8 h 30 sur un bateau le polargirl pour 8 a 9 h de navigation avec un stop devant le glacier et une visite de Barentsburg, ville russe de 500 habitants. Il est absolument impressionnant d'arriver dans cette petite ville qui pourrait etre le theatre d'un film surrealiste. 200 marches nous conduisent du port au centre ville et un guide parlant anglais nous brosse les caracteristiques de Barentsburg, nous indique que nous pouvons aller partout (sauf a gauche ou il y a la ferme aux porcs). L'habitat est dans un etat de precarite inimaginable. Les gens vivent ici en famille et exploitent les mines de charbon. Une ecole accueille les enfants de 8 h a 17 h c'est un des rares batiments decore et accueillant. Il y a deux magasins de souvenirs, un cafe, un hotel, une piscine en decrepitude et un stade interieur et une petite eglise. Environnee d'un paysage epoustoufflant cette petite ville est totalement isolee. On l'atteint par bateau ou helicoptere car il n'y a pas d'aeroport seulement celui qui a ete construit illegalement pour accueillir les helicopteres. Barentsburg est d'une effroyable tristesse, on a peine a imaginer comment les gens vivent dans cette precarite et cet isolement.

Le  Emarkglacier est majestueux et ses failles turquoises sont magiques. De temps en temps nous entendons un gros tonnerre qui signifie qu'un pan de glace s'effondre.

Plus loin nous longeons l'ile aux oiseaux. D'anciennes mines ont ete abandonnees mais il semble qu'il y ait de grands gisements qui pourraient etre exploites par les russes s'ils le souhaitaient. De nombreux oiseaux ont fait leur nid et certains ont du mal a s'envoler car ils ont pris avec l'hiver 30 % de leur poids et on les voit s'ebrouer sur la mer car ils craignent les cotes ou les renards les attendent.

The Emarkglacier is majestic turquoise and its flaws are magical. Occasionally we hear a big thunder meaning a patch of ice collapsed.
